What Cogtive is
Cogtive is the complete Lean cockpit for manufacturing. OEE tools give a plant a speedometer: an efficiency number, downtime and a Pareto. Cogtive gives the plant the entire cockpit.
The promise: produce what demand requires, with the structure the plant already has, and with a tool that is actually used in the daily routine.
OEE is one of Cogtive’s features, and not the most important one. It tells you how efficient a machine was. Cogtive answers what to do next, in the four decisions that define whether a plant delivers:
- Will this month’s plan close? (Pace)
- Where is each batch waiting right now? (Flow)
- Can we take on more demand without a new line? (Capacity)
- What is blocking our changeovers from performing better? (Setup)
What Cogtive is not
- Not an “OEE system”. OEE is the foundation, not the product.
- Not an MES. Cogtive works alongside the MES: the MES records execution; Cogtive manages flow, pace, setup and capacity on top of what happens.
- Not a composable app builder. The cockpit and the method come ready to use and are adapted to each process. The plant does not need a development team, only an owner of the routine.
- Not an ERP, CRM, accounting, retail or e-commerce solution, and not a generic BI dashboard.
- Not a consulting firm. The method is delivered through the platform and the Customer Success routine.
Platform architecture
One cockpit, four decisions, a solid foundation. The platform is organized in layers:
- L0 · Routine: the CAPTA method and Customer Success bring everything into the daily, weekly and monthly routine.
- L1 · Foundation: everything an OEE tool does.
- L2 · Compliance: records for the regulated shop floor.
- L3 · Decisions: the four pillars (Setup, Capacity, Flow and Pace).
- L4 · Intelligence: TÆLOR, AI agents and Cogtive MCP.
Foundation (OEE)
Cogtive already includes everything an OEE tool does. Data comes in the way each plant allows, capturing even micro-stops.
- OEE and downtime Pareto
- Data capture through IoT, sensors and cameras with AI Vision
- Batch production entries on the tablet
- Maintenance with MTBF and MTTR
- Downtime kanban
- Visual management on the shop-floor TV
Pillar 1 · Setup
Decision it unlocks: standardize every changeover. Reduce and standardize every batch changeover, no matter who runs it. Guided Setup on the tablet, with phases, instructions and checklists, which also standardizes training for new operators. Time per phase is recorded automatically, with a live setup kanban and a ramp-up report after each changeover. Covers partial and full setups, SMED and line clearance.
Pillar 2 · Capacity
Decision it unlocks: accept future demand with confidence. Know whether the plant can handle demand for the coming months before committing. Scenario simulation (mix, volume, extra shift, machine down) with the OEE each scenario requires. Workforce sizing with vacations, turnover and absenteeism, the ideal buffer between stages, and a Value Stream Map with takt versus cycle time. Supports campaigns, SKU mix, line allocation and investment decisions.
Pillar 3 · Flow
Decision it unlocks: control WIP and lead time. Control work in progress and the lead time of every batch. Flow View is a live map of every batch along its route, where the team runs Heijunka to level production. FIFO with sequence alerts, bottlenecks, lead time per stage, holding time against its limit, QC release, route deviations and routes that self-calibrate from real use.
Pillar 4 · Pace
Decision it unlocks: close the monthly plan. Tell production planning, every day, whether the monthly plan will close. Adherence to the monthly plan by SKU. New Pace is the daily target needed to close the month, recalculated with every production entry. Balance between input and output, inventory coverage by SKU and WIP completion forecasts based on historical lead time.
Compliance (GMP)
Made even for the most regulated shop floor. The events that regulators such as the FDA and ANVISA require plants to document are recorded on the platform, with an audit trail and data integrity.
- Electronic logbook: cleanings, batch changeovers and maintenance recorded on the tablet and signed by PIN. Once saved, a record cannot be changed.
- Versioned templates: what each logbook requires, who fills it in and who verifies it.
- Audit trail: who changed what, the previous value, the new value and when.
- QR code validation for critical events, such as opening a corrective work order.
The logbook is a validatable solution. The customer’s Quality team is involved from the start of the implementation.
Intelligence (TÆLOR)
Intelligence that is already in production, at real customers, built on the data the plant actually uses.
- TÆLOR and AI agents analyze factory data and suggest insights to anticipate deviations.
- Cogtive MCP connects AI assistants, such as Claude and ChatGPT, and agents to real factory data, in natural language.
- Embedded intelligence: self-calibrating routes, speed anomalies by batch and WIP completion forecasts.
- Alerts in Microsoft Teams, Slack and email, the moment the event happens.
- The customer’s ERP, such as SAP, can consume TÆLOR’s insights.
The CAPTA method
The platform is the depth. CAPTA is the path. It shows where an operation stands, what makes sense now and what comes next.
The five stages: Capture, Analyze, Potentiate, Transform and Anticipate. The name CAPTA is the same in every language.
It starts with a short questionnaire across four dimensions: Standards, Flow, Pace and Capacity. The letter in each dimension defines what Cogtive offers. Cogtive does not sell what the customer will not use yet.
Cogtive’s Customer Success team is made up of Operational Excellence professionals who came from industry. They built the method together with the platform and take each customer from one stage to the next, inside the routine.
Who Cogtive is for
Life sciences at the core, with pharma as the anchor. Cogtive is built for high-maturity operations, or companies large enough to grow into it, with an owner of Operational Excellence and an executive sponsor.
- Pharmaceuticals: holding time, QC release, batch traceability and auditable records in the same cockpit.
- Animal health: campaigns and SKU mix with known capacity before committing.
- Cosmetics: frequent batch changeovers, standardized.
- Supplements: pace against plan and coverage by SKU.
- Chemicals and paints: flow between stages and capacity by line.
- Other manufacturing: plants that produce in batches or hybrid processes, with flow between stages and a mix of SKUs.
Each role enters through a different pillar and hears the same promise:
- Industrial and plant leadership: Capacity. Whether the plant can handle the coming months of demand without investing in new structure.
- Operational Excellence: the complete cockpit. End-to-end control of the flow inside the Lean routines.
- Production planning: Pace. Whether each SKU is on pace with the monthly plan.
- Quality: Compliance. Electronic logbook, audit trail and holding time.
- IT: the Foundation. Integration through IoT, sensors and cameras, with protected and auditable data.
Results
- Apsen (pharmaceuticals, Brazil): lead time 46% shorter, postponing the investment in a new plant by more than four years.
- Pharma International Company (Axantia, pharmaceuticals, Jordan): OEE from 18.5% to 41.9% in 11 months, without buying new machines. Tableting rose from 32.3 to 57.2 million units per year (+77%) and blistering from 3.3 to 5.6 million.
- Ourofino Saúde Animal (animal health, Brazil): OEE 29% higher and about 600 hours per year saved by the team and the operators, with 85 pieces of equipment connected (12 through IoT and 73 through the tablet app) and the production flow followed in Flow View.
Across customers: more than 100 manufacturers served, +30% production capacity, 12× return on investment, a 12-month payback per plant and an NPS of +85.
Where Cogtive fits
- OEE tools give a speedometer: an efficiency indicator, downtime and Pareto. For Cogtive, OEE is only the foundation; on top of it sit the four pillars and the CAPTA method.
- Composable platforms give the parts to build and maintain your own apps. Cogtive delivers the cockpit and the method ready to use, adapted to the process.
- An MES records production execution. Cogtive works alongside it and manages flow, pace, setup and capacity on top of what happens.
