Challenge
With 85 pieces of equipment across its industrial park and indicators tracked manually, Ourofino’s production managers faced the challenge of identifying line stoppages and bottlenecks faster and more accurately, so they could act on decisions to optimize resources, line operators, and the maintenance team.
This need triggered an opportunity for even deeper change within the company: digitizing shop-floor data collection and beginning to track all these indicators in real time.
Solution
Automated, digital data collection
With both continuous and batch production equipment, we used our IoT and App technologies to collect data according to the needs of each asset — of the 85 pieces of equipment in the industrial park, 12 are now monitored via IoT sensors (continuous line) and 73 via the app (batch production).

Real-time equipment indicators
Once automated data collection was in place, accurate and consistent data from each piece of equipment began to be generated and made available to managers through our Equipment Dashboard. All indicators in real time, in just one click.

Virtualizing the production flow
Ourofino used to track its entire production flow with a kanban filled in manually by those responsible for the operation. With the adoption of our digital productivity kanban (Flow View), the entire production cycle began to be tracked with real-time information for every stage and every piece of equipment.
Results
By bringing in Cogtive as an Industry 4.0 solution, Ourofino improved its OEE by 29%, saved around 600 hours per year across its line operator team, gained a 360º view of its shop floor, precisely identified bottlenecks, reduced lead time and inventory, achieved better production tracking and planning with real-time data for more assertive decisions, and optimized resources across its entire chain.
