The challenge

Ourofino is one of the most established brands in the Brazilian veterinary market, with more than 30 years of steady productivity growth. Its portfolio serves cattle, poultry, swine, horses, dogs and cats, as well as the biologics and biotechnology markets.

The industrial park runs 85 pieces of equipment, and their indicators were tracked manually. The production flow was followed on a kanban filled in by hand by the people responsible for each operation. Production managers needed to identify stoppages and bottlenecks faster and more accurately, so they could act on resources, line operators and the maintenance team while it still made a difference.

That need opened the way to a deeper change: capturing shop-floor data digitally and following every indicator in real time.

The solution

Cogtive started with the OEE foundation, with data captured according to the nature of each asset. Of the 85 pieces of equipment, the 12 on the continuous line are monitored through IoT sensors, and the 73 used for batch production through entries on the tablet app. The whole industrial park is connected.

With automated capture in place, every machine produces accurate, consistent data, available to managers on the Equipment Dashboard: real OEE, the downtime Pareto, FIFO, status, OEE history, maintenance, speed and setup, in real time and one click away.

The Flow pillar replaced the manual kanban. In Flow View, the entire production cycle is followed live, with real-time information for every stage and every piece of equipment. The team sees where each batch is and where it is waiting, without walking the floor to update a board, and bottlenecks show up as they form.

For Milton Rizo, Operations Director at Ourofino, the result came from exactly that combination: virtualizing the process and tracking all of it in real time.

The results

Ourofino improved its OEE by 29%. The team and the operators saved about 600 hours a year.

With a 360° view of the shop floor, bottlenecks are identified precisely, lead time and inventory came down, and production tracking and planning now run on real-time data, supporting faster and more accurate decisions. Resources are optimized across the entire chain, from line operators to maintenance.

  • OEE up 29%
  • About 600 hours a year saved by the team and the operators
  • 85 pieces of equipment connected: 12 through IoT, 73 through the tablet app
  • Production flow followed stage by stage in Flow View
  • Lead time and inventory reduced
